'I've never had phenomenal fans like Man Utd' - Mourinho in sly dig at Chelsea fans?

Jose Mourinho appears to have aimed a sly dig at Chelsea fans following Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
The Red Devils booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford, courtesy of Juan Mata’s second-half strike.
The result was a huge boost for Mourinho’s men who had been thrashed 4-0 by Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho praised United’s fans, insisting the strength of their support is something he has never experienced in his career thus far.
“The spirit of the supporters is phenomenal here, I never had people like these ones,” he told Sky Sports.
“The love the people have for the club is bigger than bad results and bigger than three bad seasons.”
United return to Premier League action on Saturday as they welcome Burnley to Old Trafford. The Clarets are yet to pick up a single point away home in the league this season.

Senate Finally Amends Code Of Conduct Bill

The Nigerian Senate took a bold step on Thursday by finally passing the Code of Conduct amendment bill, 2016.
The amendment included altering the tenure of office of the chairman and members of the Code of Conduct Bureau.
Also amended was the tenure of the chairman and members from serving until they are 70, to a term of five years.
The exercise follows months of discussions in the Senate, regarding the need to amend the bill.
It also comes months after the trial of Senate President Bukola for false asset declaration, commenced at the Code Of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
Saraki had criticised the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), which filed the charges against him, for not inviting him for questioning, on the charges before it filed them.
Although, the actual amendments to the act were done by the House Of Representatives and passed on May 31, the Senate concurred with the House and passed the bill on October 27.
Early in the year, the upper legislative chamber had sought to amend the act, but a public outcry forced it to shelve it; although a similar bill has been reintroduced.

Girl, 9, who fell into a scalding hot bath takes her first steps in 7 YEARS after having her leg amputated - despite doctors saying she would never walk again

Tilly Sawford (inset), from Nottingham, was given just a five per cent chance of survival after suffering 86 per cent burns when she was just 15-months-old. Her parents were told she was close to death five times as she was treated in intensive care for six months. She has had more than 500 operations, including having shark cartilage and cow collagen grafted onto her skin - but doctors still said she would never walk again, forcing her to use a frame (right). Earlier this year doctors amputated her right leg and replaced it with a prosthetic limb to try and help her walk (left). And incredibly, two weeks ago she took her first steps unaided - and even played a toy foot-piano.

Cristiano Ronaldo can't live without his critics

When you've won as many trophies as Cristiano Ronaldo, finding the will to demand more of yourself can be a tricky process but for the Real Madrid forward it's a simple case of shutting down the haters.
Despite lifting multiple Premier Leagues, Champions Leagues, and Ballon d'Ors, there are still plenty of people around who criticise the Portuguese star, and he thanks them for helping him prove them wrong.
"[I] use negative people and experiences to motivate [me]. I actually need my haters - they have helped me achieve all I have achieved," Ronaldo said to Coach Magazine.
That said, the winger also made clear his inner-belief as he pushes himself and strives to continue improving.
"I was," he replied when asked who's been the biggest influence on his career.
"My biggest inspiration has always been myself; nobody puts bigger demands on me than me.
"I said I admired [Luis] Figo and Rui Costa, but I never wanted to emulate anybody - I have just always focused on being the best me I can."
Finally, Ronaldo listed some of the toughest opponents he's had over the years, namechecking Lionel Messi and Ashley Cole.
"There is a big mutual respect between myself and Lionel Messi," the winger stated.
"The media like to make out like we have this big rivalry, but we don't. It is not like we are good friends, but there is a mutual respect on both sides.
"Over the years I had some great battles with Ashley Cole, he doesn't give you a second to breathe. He was such a tenacious player, quick, tough in the tackle, when he was at his peak.
"You knew it would never be an easy game."

Guardiola could have joined Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane was the man Real Madrid turned to last January when the club gave up on the Rafa Benitez project, but in a parallel universe Pep Guardiola could have been the man taking over the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu dugout.
Los Blancos made a proposal to the Catalan, but he turned down their advances, having already agreed to join Manchester City.
"When Benitez was going through a tough spell at Real Madrid there was contact," Marti Perarnau - Guardiola's biographer - explained in an interview with La Sexta.
"There was an approach to Pep Guardiola see what he was going to do after Bayern Munich.
"A representative transmitted the message to [Guardiola], but he replied by saying that he was going to Manchester City and that he wasn't going to listen to proposals from anyone."
Perarnau made the stunning revelation at a presentation for his new book on the ex-Barcelona coach, called The Evolution.

ISIS-linked group abandons Somali town after brief occupation

A breakaway group of around 50 Somali militants who declared loyalty to the Islamic State jihadists abandoned a small port town on Thursday a day after occupying it, residents and an official said.
"The militants left town early this morning but they are not far away," said Abdiweli Adan, an elder in a town close to Qandala which the IS-linked group occupied on Wednesday.
He said the group's black flag still flew over government buildings in the small seaside town on the Gulf of Aden coast of Puntland, a semi-autonomous state in northern Somalia.
"Some fishermen saw them staying close by in mountainous enclaves," said Adan, who added the militants left as they had arrived, peacefully.
A security official in the regional capital Bossaso said the threat of an arriving force of Puntland soldiers had scared the militants off.
"Puntland sent hundreds of special forces to deal with the terrorists. Unfortunately, they have run away even before the forces reached the town," said Cabdirisak Mohamed, a security official in the capital Bossaso, about 70 kilometres (45 miles) west of Qandala.
Mohamed dismissed the takeover of Qandala as "a desperate attempt to draw attention."
The militants — led by former Shabaab cleric Abdiqadir Mumin — switched allegiance from Al Qaeda to IS a year ago but have done little since apart from issuing occasional promotional videos.
Nevertheless, in late August the US State Department named Mumin a "global terrorist" making him a potential target for US drone strikes which are regularly carried out against jihadists in Somalia.
Abdukadir Said, a trader from Qandala said aircraft flying over the town may have spooked the militants. "There were aircraft hovering over Qandala during the last six hours" before they left, he said.
Once a pirate stronghold, Qandala is an ancient trading and fishing town whose main significance is its proximity to Yemen, across the Gulf of Aden, where Al Qaeda and IS groups both operate. In the past the Shabaab has been resupplied with weapons and fighters sent from Yemen.

'Dad shot me': Dying words of daughter, 19, as she and her mother were killed by her father as a 'punishment for leaving him' before he turned the shotgun on himself, leaving behind a note saying: 'Karma is a bitch'

A 'bullying' husband wrote 'karma is a b***h' before he shot dead his wife and daughter after he ambushed them outside a leisure centre when she left him after 26 years, an inquest heard today.
Lance Hart, 57, penned a 12-page suicide note before he blasted his wife Claire, 50, and their 19-year-old daughter Charlotte before turning the shotgun on himself in Spalding on July 20.
As he ate a 'last supper' of paella and wine in his garden on the night before the murders he wrote: 'Revenge is a dish best served cold. Karma is a b***h'.
The killer also said his three children were 'conspiring' against him so to spite his surviving two sons he chose to murder their mother and only sister.
In a message to his family he wrote:  'You completely destroyed my life without giving me a chance so I will destroy yours.'
Horrified witnesses rushed to help and found Claire and her estranged husband dead but Charlotte was still alive and used her final words to say: 'It was my dad who shot me'.
Hart knew his wife was going swimming with Charlotte and lay in wait for them in the leisure centre's car park in Spalding, Lincolnshire before gunning them down.

Jose Mourinho charged over referee comments

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was on Thursday charged with misconduct over comments he made about the referee in charge of this month's Liverpool game, the Football Association has announced.
United outspoken Portuguese boss faces a disciplinary hearing after questioning referee Anthony Taylor's suitability to take charge of the October 17 game at Anfield.
The Altrincham-based official's appointment for the Premier League derby had led former English top flight referee Keith Hackett to claim the appointment would place undue pressure on Taylor.
And when those comments were put to Mourinho ahead of the match, the United boss said: "I think Mr Taylor is a very good referee but I think somebody with intention is putting such a pressure on him that I feel that it will be difficult for him to have a very good performance."
The FA released a statement confirming: "Jose Mourinho has been charged with misconduct in respect of comments he made relating to the appointed match referee, prior to the Liverpool v Manchester United fixture on Monday 17 October 2016.
