Donald Trump on Thursday morning
told the president of Mexico, via Twitter, that he must agree to pay for
the border wall, or else cancel his visit planned for next week. The previous day Mr Trump had signed an executive order to begin construction of the
wall. Enrique Pena Nieto, the Mexican president, then took to Facebook to publish a video directly addressing the Mexican people and telling them their country would refuse to pay.

And the escalating row came as both Mr Trump and Theresa May prepare to address a Republican gathering in Philadelphia.
Mrs May is expected to use her remarks to say that Britain and the US, both undergoing fundamental change, can work together and be strongly united.
Critics of Mr Trump in the UK are urging Mrs May to express her concerns about his divisive rhetoric.
