Dasuki bought warships, aircraft and a lot of equipments for the military. He didn't steal $2.2bn

Formal President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan had a different view on the money EFCC accused Dasuki who served as National security Advisor during his tenure in office and insisted such amount is inconceivable. He said that Dasuki acquired warships, aircraft and many other equipment for the military during his tenure in office.
You remember Dasuki has been in custody of EFCC for alleged diversion of funds budgeted for arm purchase. The $2.2bn scandal has kept Dasuki in detention since 2015
According to Jonathan, it is improper to say $2.2bn was stolen after the purchase of arms by his administration when delivering  lecture at Oxford Union in the United Kingdom on Tuesday. Jonathan further buttress the reason why he has kept quiet over the issue. According to him, he doesn't want to be seen as a formal President challenging the present government. He stated this through Abuja based public relations outfit, the PR Nigeria

Court sentences shop owner that refused to sell sugar to 5 years in jail

Can this happen in Nigeria? Dokki Misdemeanor Court sentenced a shop owner based in the Giza suburb of Dokki to five years in jail and a financial fine of EGP 100,000 over charges of seizing commodity rations and refraining from selling them to citizens. According to state-run Al-Ahram newspaper, police forces arrested Magdi Mohamed for refraining from selling sugar to a member of the Supply Investigations Bureau, who was disguised as an ordinary citizen.
Police forces arrested Mohamed after they inspected his shop and found 51 kilos of sugar, Al-Ahram reported.
Last week, General Prosecutor Nabil Sadek ordered arrest warrants for a number of Muslim Brotherhood members allegedly accused of forming cells that planned to collect sugar from the Egyptian market, according to local media reports.
The current shortage of sugar in retail outlets began several days ago and came after the market shop for sugar increased from EGP 6 to EGP 12. The sugar price increase stirred ire among the population especially when most have been struggling to adapt financially to the newly implemented value-added tax (VAT), which in some cases nearly doubled the prices of several commodities and services.
The “sugar cell” members are also accused of collecting large amounts of the now scarce commodity from markets. Three of the alleged cell members were arrested at a coffee shop in Nasr City.

The government through the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Authority (AFA) Coffee Directorate on Tuesday said it is also targeting China, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland and Nigeria as emerging markets for the coffee.
“Kenya has embarked on an aggressive marketing of her coffee globally. In view of this, the country is set to be the ‘portrait country (main feature)’ during the 2017 Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) Exhibition in Seattle, Washington, US,” said Grenville Melli, interim head of the directorate during a briefing in Nairobi.

The government is seeking to leverage on various platforms like SCAA, where Kenya is a member, to improve the visibility of the country’s coffee.
“To address the challenges, we shall venture into new markets through participation in various expos, both locally and internationally,” said Richard Lesiyampe, Agriculture principal secretary, in a statement.
As a portrait country in the upcoming SCAA exhibition set for next April Kenya will be given exclusive priority in marketing her coffee in the US during the period of the symposium and exhibitions.

Biotech firm to develop 3D bioprinted liver tissue for direct transplantation to patients

Organovo is announcing its program to develop 3D bioprinted human liver tissue based on the achievement of strong results in preclinical studies that used animal models. These demonstrated engraftment, vascularisation and sustained functionality of bioprinted liver tissue, including stable detection of liver-specific proteins and metabolic enzymes. The company expects to pursue this opportunity with a formal preclinical development program.
For patients in need of a liver transplant, no robust alternatives exist today. Approximately 17,000 patients are on the U.S. liver transplant waiting list, but only 6,000 liver transplants are performed each year.
Organovo plans to develop clinical solutions in two initial areas. First, acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a recognised and distinct orphan disease entity encompassing an acute deterioration of liver function in patients with liver disease, which affects 150,000 patients annually in the United States. Second, paediatric metabolic liver diseases are another orphan disease indication where a bioprinted liver tissue patch may show therapeutic benefits.
The total addressable market opportunity for these initial indication areas exceeds $3 billion. Assuming development progresses according to its plan, Organovo intends to submit an Investigational New Drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its therapeutic liver tissue in three to five years. Organovo will seek breakthrough therapy designation, clinical development outside the United States, and other opportunities to help accelerate time to market. The company will also present more detailed preclinical results at upcoming scientific conferences.

End of an Era: Gulfstream To Cease G450 Production in 2018

Gulfstream Aerospace announced on October 21 that it will cease production of the G450 as it prepares for service entry of its new fly-by-wire G500 in early 2018, the same time it is scheduled to deliver the final G450. This provides a seamless product transition between the two business jets.
The G450 was built on the success of the GIV and GIV-SP, which themselves were derived from the GIII and GII twinjets, as well as the GI turboprop twin. The GIV first flew on Sept. 19, 1985, and entered service in August 1987. Gulfstream produced more than 870 GIVs, GIV-SPs and G450s over the past 29 years. The GIV family also was the foundation for the ultra-long-range GV series.
“The GIV and G450 ushered in a business aviation renaissance that has led to increased safety, greater reliability, better technology and improved performance,” said Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “It’s fitting that the G500 will replace the G450 and build upon its performance legacy, creating another industry game-changer from Gulfstream.”
Powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GAs, the 5,000-nm G500 features Gulfstream’s Symmetry Flight Deck and a fly-by-wire system with active control sidesticks. Five G500s are currently in flight testing, with FAA certification expected next year. To date, the flight-test program has amassed more than 1,600 flight hours. In addition, a G500 simulator is already in use at FlightSafety International in Savannah, Georgia.
