The Edo State House of Assembly yesterday suspended its former speaker, Victor Edoror (APC, Esan Central), for three months.
The suspension of Edoror followed an allegation that he failed to
appear before an ad hoc committee set up
by the house to investigate the financial impropriety levelled against him during his tenure as speaker.
by the house to investigate the financial impropriety levelled against him during his tenure as speaker.
The speaker, Justine Okonoboh, who announced the suspension at
plenary yesterday, said the suspension was sequel to recommendation of
the ad hoc committee report on the allegations of financial impropriety
leveled against the former speaker who failed to appear before it to
defend himself against the allegations.
It would be recalled that Edoror was impeached by the members on
May 3, 2016 over alleged financial recklessness, high-handedness and
dictatorial tendencies among others.
