Lauren Gritz was today jailed for 12 months for the “completely unprovoked” attack on recruitment consultant Paige Wooding after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing. Inner London Crown Court heard officers were called to Agenda Bar in the City of London in the early hours of May 7, after reports a woman had been ‘glassed’ on the dancefloor.
Officers found the 23-year-old victim with a gash to her forehead, blood congealed
in her hair and spattered on her clothes.
Gritz, who works for a City insurance firm, was arrested and admitted one count of unlawful wounding.
After today’s sentencing, DC Joe Farrell, from the City of London Police, said: “I hope today’s sentencing sends a strong message to everyone who socialises in the City.
“There is no excuse for such violent behaviour and it will not be tolerated by the City of London Police.
“Gritz went to Agenda for an enjoyable night out.
“There had been no contact between the two women prior to the incident and the attack seems to be sparked by the victim backing into Gritz while dancing.
“There is no justification for the way Gritz reacted that night.”
Gritz was also ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation.
