Clinton supporters weep openly as results come in - but gleeful Trump fans chant 'lock her up' as he sweeps to victory

The nail-biting nature of tonight's presidential election left those cheering for Hillary Clinton - once the obvious favorite - in a sour mood, while Donald Trump's supporters were energized by their underdog
gaining ground. At the Clinton 'party' in the Jacob K Javits Center in Manhattan, picked for its purposeful glass ceiling, Clinton's senior aides were nowhere to be seen. Mid-level staffers were dejectedly sipping coffee and Red Bull as the atmosphere went from confident to depressed, and a late-stage attempt to liven the mood with 'Let's Get Loud' was doomed to failure. Crowds stood around silently as J-Lo rocked the speakers - though news that Clinton might take Arizona for the Democrats for the first time since Bill Clinton's 1996 run did inject a small amount of excitement. Meanwhile, Trump supporters at an invite-only event at the New York Hilton - two miles and a world away - found themselves whipped up into roaring frenzies of cheers, hugs and chants of 'lock her up.'
