In fulfilment of a presidential promise, the Office of the National Security Advisor (NSA) handed over two helicopters from the Presidential Air Fleet to the Nigerian Air Force, for use in its operations against Boko Haram in the Northeast. (The Chief of Air Staff says one of the helicopters will be configured and deployed as an Air Ambulance, while the second one will be deployed as a Troop Carrier). The two luxury helicopters were purchased in October 2014 and May 2015 respectively by the Jonathan administration, for the use of the President.

Fifteen miners have been killed after a gas explosion at a coal mine in the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing Monday, according to state-run news agency Xinhua.
