God used you to make me governor, Akeredolu tells Ondo people

In an acceptance speech at his Owo GRA residence in Ondo state shortly after his declaration by the Returning Officer of the election ,Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, promised that welfare and employment for Ondo people would be the priority of
his administration.
Declaring Akeredolu winner, Ambali said the APC candidate polled a total of 244,842 to beat PDP candidate Eyitayo Jegede with 150,380 and AD candidate Olusola Oke who scored 126,889.
Also the candidate of the SDP, Mr. Olu Agunloye scored  10,146.
Ambali put the total registered voters at 1 ,647,973, accredited voters at 584, 997, valid votes 551,272, rejected votes 29,615 while he put the total votes cast at 580,887.
Ambali said, “It is my privilege and pleasure that after the election conducted in Ondo state for a new governor, the people of Ondo state have spoken. And that the candidate of the APC, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu having certified the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner of the election."
As soon as the declaration was made, his supporters in Owo who had besieged his residence at the GRA, bursted into songs of praises and joy hailing him for the victory. Also reports across the state said APC supporters embarked on celebration rallies to celebrate the moment.
Akeredolu, surrounded by party loyalists immediately joined in the praise worship.  Making his acceptance speech, he urged the cooperation of all, irrespective of political differences before the election.
He said, "This is victory of God through the people. It is not for me or the APC alone, it is a victory for the people of Ondo State irrespective of which side of the divide you stood during the election. For me it is a challenge to perform. It is a call to rescue our state and reverse its fortunes.
"I thank the people of my dear state for their steadfastness . I have heard their messages throught the campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the state. Today you have spoken with one voice. You have walked your talk. You have voted for me as your Governor for the next four years.
"Today, Change has come. I hereby make a solemn plegde that this collective mandate shall address all issues with keen determination. The welfare of our people alone shall be the directive policy of the government. "
