Joy as two physically challenged wed in Ibadan

Guests, relations and well-wishers gathered at Iyaganku, Ibadan on Thursday to witness and share in the joy of two love birds whom love bound together to the point of walking the aisles.
Though they were both physically challenged, Grace Omoba, 43, and Paul Kadiri, 52, would not look back in signing
the dotted lines with glee.
Grace has been battling cerebral palsy since birth while Kadiri is deaf and dumb.
They met at Jesus Kids Home for Special People, Iwo Road Ibadan, where the bride has been living and receiving support for 10 years.
The special home is owned by Pastor (Mrs) Ololade Adamolekun who has adopted Funke as their daughter. The Adamolekuns, who stood as bride’s family, also invited friends and family to witness the wedding. It was learnt that bride’s original parents abandoned her because of her health challenge.
Though, the new bride could not speak with reporters, the joy they exhibited expressed it all.
The marriage at the registry on Thursday marked the end of a seven months old courtship between the new couple. The marriage was organized by the Social Welfare Unit of the Oyo State Ministry of Women and Social Development.
On Saturday, friends and family members also gathered at the home for the traditional wedding.
The Kadiris came in large numbers, including the aged groom’s mother.
Groom’s younger brother, Mr Peter Ugbodaga, said it has always been the prayer of his brother to get married one day. Though, he revealed that his elder brother had no privilege of expressing his mind, he pointed out that as a human being he has always desired marriage.
The groom’s mother, Mrs Kadiri Ugbodaga could not hide her joy as she eventually witnessed her 52-year-old son getting married in her lifetime.
Pastor Mrs Adamolekun revealed that Funke had been praying to get married for a very long time. She said: “Her prayer has always been that she is old and wanted a husband that will take care good care of her. Funke is industrious and even help take care of some of our children at the home.”
