In a photo published on his social networks, Gareth Bale has sought to calm the fears of Real Madrid supporters by noting that he wants to be back playing as quickly as practicable.
An initial diagnosis as to his injury suggested that the Welshman could be out for between two to four months, but the winger is already working on his recovery.
"Thank you for all the messages, the ankle is fine, I will do my best to return to the pitch as soon as possible," he wrote.
James Calder, the pre-eminent surgeon in his field, will be in charge of operating on the Real Madrid international at the King Edward VII Hospital.
