A beauty queen found hanged in a park near her home was a 'tormented soul', her family said today. Part-time
model Sammi Kearsey, 29, was found by a dog walker in Benhall Park, in
Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, on the morning of November 12.
Speaking
at the family home today, her parents, brother and boyfriend said Miss
Kearsey had been
diagnosed with a number of mental illnesses and believe
she should have been given more support.
Miss Kearsey, a previous Miss Cheltenham contestant, worked in recruitment and as an account manager.
She also did modelling work on the side.
Boyfriend
Dan Coomber, who had lived with Miss Kearsey in Portsmouth for a year
before her death, said she was diagnosed with an eating disorder when
she was 13 and suffered more problems when she was 26.
She
was also diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression. Miss Kearsey had
made a number of suicide attempts while living away from Cheltenham,
her family said.
Her
mother, Jan, described her daughter as 'very popular, very beautiful
and very bright' but said she had been 'running away from her mental
health problems for years and struggled to stay in work because of it'.
